LANDOVER, Md. – NBC Sports and the Washington Redskins announced on Tuesday to partner for a live broadcast predictive game. This will be the first-ever deal in the NFL, which will cover the four preseason games that the Redskins play during August.

The broadcasting company has been responsible for producing the Skins’ games since 2011 and brought the idea to the team after its success with eight Washington Wizards’ home games last season.

“The opportunity to partner with the Redskins to combine live NFL action with predictive gaming this preseason is something we are very excited about,” said Damon Phillips, the SVP and General Manager of NBC Sports Washington, in a statement.

Predict The Game will display real-time statistics and betting information on top of the NBC Sports Washington Plus broadcast, spearheaded by Kenny Albert and Joe Theismann.

Upon questions being asked, members will respond and have the opportunity to win a share of the $1,000 quarterly prize. Additional prizes such as game tickets, signed memorabilia, and VIP opportunities are also selected at random for players.

Signing up is free and players are able to play on their mobile device or computer.

“This is all about engagement,” said Phillips. “How do you get someone to enjoy the game even more, and how do we get them to stay longer?”

The intro into sports betting will come at a time of need for the tri-state area, as only the District of Columbia has legalized the activity. Those located in DC will be able to utilize a variety of establishments to place wagers, but those attending the game in Maryland will be unable to legally bet on sports.

“This partnership strategically aligns with our organization’s commitment to constant innovation for our fans,” said Scott Shepherd, the SVP of the Washington Redskins. “We are continuously working to enhance the fan experience and strive to identify new, meaningful ways for our incredible fans to engage with our team.”

The broadcast will be available for the first time on Thursday when the Redskins battle the Cleveland Browns. After the launch, the coverage will also be available during the Cincinnati Bengals, Atlanta Falcons, and Baltimore Ravens games that end the Skins’ preseason schedule.
