ELGIN, Ill.- Sports betting in Illinois has just expanded yet again with the official launch of the William Hill Sportsbook at the Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin.

The sportsbook launch is a part of a multi-state deal between the popular sports betting operator, it’s original partner Eldorado Resorts, and Caesars Entertainment. The partnership expands William Hill sports betting to regulated markets across the nation.

William Hill will provide both land-based and mobile sports betting to its patrons, with mobile planned to launch at a later date.

William Hill Meets Illinois

The launch of the William Hill sportsbook marks the third regulated Illinois sports betting operation.

One of the biggest benefits that William Hill has over its competition in the Illinois market is the location of the Grand Victoria being just 40 miles outside of Chicago.

The Windy City is one of the largest cities in the country, giving William Hill a potentially massive influx of sports bettors.

“Grand Victoria Casino is located just outside of Chicago – where some of the most passionate sports fans in the country live. I’m looking forward to seeing the community come together to watch their favorite teams as we welcome back the return of our favorite professional sports,” said David Grolman, President of Retail Operations for William Hill. “This will be our first sports book in the state of Illinois and allows us to continue to expand our relationship with Caesars Entertainment properties across the country.”

The sportsbook will be located just walking distance from the main casino floor. The sports lounge has ample seating, several betting kiosks, and multiple HD TV’s that display games in real-time as well as betting odds.

The William Hill sportsbook will also operate from 10 am to 10 pm every day.

“Partnering with the country’s leading sports betting operator allows us to offer our customers an elevated experience that features industry-leading wagering and technology,” said Bill Gustafson, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Grand Victoria Casino. “The sports book is in a prime location that will draw sports fans in and keep them engaged as they cheer on their favorite teams.”

Illinois sports betting market has been expanding in recent weeks. Just in July, it was announced that Casino Queen was combining with DraftKings to launch mobile sports betting.

With the William Hill launch, legal sports betting in Illinois just became an even bigger market.

While both sportsbook operators will likely launch their mobile platforms soon, William Hill stands a better chance to gain users because of their location. Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker reinstated the in-person registration rule, and since William Hill is closer to Chicago, that rule may favor them.
