• Scientific Games Corporation is an online casino game provider that serves gambling establishments worldwide.
  • Wynn Resorts does not own any properties in New Jersey and would have to partner with another company in NJ to acquire an online sports betting skin.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – In an already crowded New Jersey sports betting market, a new player is looking to join. Wynn Resorts, the famous Las Vegas-based hotel and casino chain, has announced a partnership with Scientific Games to develop their digital sports betting and online gaming platform.

In a brief press release given by Scientific Games, the company wrote the following:

“To support the launch of Wynn Resort’s unique digital sports betting and iGaming applications in the U.S. Wynn Resorts intends to initially launch in New Jersey and utilize several Scientific Games products and services including: a sports betting and iGaming system; a managed sports trading service and Scientific games market-leading content aggregation system that is home to more than 2,000 digital games such as 88 Fortunes, Raging Rhino, Zuez, and more.”

While this is great news for both companies, the partnership comes with a bit of obscurity. There are two major aspects that stick out of this deal.

Scientific Games Corporation

The first is the fact that Wynn Resorts does not currently own a property in the state, nor does it hold a New Jersey sports betting license.

The casino company would have to partner with another gambling establishment that is already in the state and acquire one of their online sports wagering skins. The state of New Jersey allows each retail sportsbook a chance to partner with up to three companies to offer that added wagering type.

Neither Wynn Resorts or Scientific Games announced who that potential third partner would be.

To add to this hurdle, there are already 13 licensed online and/or mobile sportsbooks in the Garden State. They have already established a presence among bettors so whatever application Wynn Resorts plans to release will essentially be playing catch-up.

The second aspect that has raised some eyebrows for those invested in Wynn Resorts is what this new deal will mean for their previous partnership with BetBull.

In a press release given by Wynn Resorts in October of last year, the company issued the following statement:

“ [Wynn] has entered into a strategic partnership with BetBull Limited, a European-based digital sports betting operator, to pursue legal sports betting opportunities in the emerging U.S. market. The strategic partnership will position both parties to capitalize on the developing U.S. opportunity by combining Wynn resorts nationally recognized brand with BetBull’s digital sports betting operations capabilities and technology.”

Wynn Resorts will have to overcome both of these hurdles in order to compete with other online sportsbooks in New Jersey, but if they do, they can expect to see a high amount of traffic from sports bettors come football season.
