Should You Open an Ember Sportsbook Account?

Yes, if you’re standing in West Virginia or Ohio. Everywhere else the question is moot, because those two states are the whole real-money map and nothing else here talks around that wall.

Whether Ember is legitimate was never the interesting question. It’s a state-licensed sportsbook. What’s in question is fit and transparency, meaning how good Ember is for you specifically, and how much it tells you before you fund an account.

Four points before you go any further.

Other Sportsbooks Worth a Look

Bovada sportsbook logo Offshore

Bovada

The best-known offshore brand for US players, Bovada pairs a deep prop board with the lightest rollover on this list. It is licensed offshore, so no US regulator stands behind it.

BetOnline sportsbook logo Offshore

BetOnline

Operating since 2001, BetOnline is the offshore book to open if you want early numbers and room to bet into them. Its rollover runs heavier than Bovada’s in exchange for the bigger match.

MyBookie sportsbook logo Offshore

MyBookie

MyBookie built its name on promotions: a 100 percent bet-back bonus to $500 in free play on a losing first wager, and a dollar-for-dollar crypto match to $1,000. Its live betting held up under Sunday load in every test we ran.

Operator Delaware North (West Virginia); Miami Valley Gaming and Racing, LLC joint venture wearing the Ember brand (Ohio)
Licensed by West Virginia Lottery Commission, Ohio Casino Control Commission
Available in WV, OH
Launched July 1, 2026, replacing Betly (WV) and MVGBet (OH)
Support hours Roughly 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM in both states, on separate numbers per state
  • Ember takes real-money sports bets in exactly two states. A New Jersey Ember casino and a roughly 49-state free-play app carry the same name without being the same product or the same legal category.
  • Ember is Betly and MVGBet renamed, not rebuilt. Your old login, balance and bet history came across on their own, with nothing to re-register.
  • Several terms a winning bettor cares about most, maximum payout, bet limits, how a withdrawal actually works, don’t appear anywhere in Ember’s own materials or a regulator filing.
  • Licensed and regulated, with no hedge on either word. A state regulator stands behind Ember’s account, and that carries weight the marketing doesn’t.

Facts checked

Everything below is checked against Ember’s own state apps, help materials and app store listings, Delaware North’s July 1, 2026 rebrand release, the Ohio Casino Control Commission’s July 15, 2026 licensee list, and the West Virginia sports wagering statute (W. Va. Code §29-22D-6). Where a term goes unstated in all of those places, this review says so instead of guessing.

Ember Sportsbook States

Two. West Virginia and Ohio, and no third state has been added since Delaware North launched the brand on July 1, 2026. Ember’s own state selector and its app store listings both say so. Chase Ember anywhere else and you’re chasing a product that doesn’t exist yet.

New Jersey is where people get tripped up. Ember takes real money there, but only at the casino. No sportsbook has launched in the state, and that reflects where Delaware North has chosen to spend and not a legal barrier. Ember Jackpot Casino muddies it further. It’s free-to-play, reaches roughly 49 states, redeems for nothing, and belongs to a different legal category entirely. Count that reach as Ember’s real-money footprint and you’ve badly misread the map.

!

Location checks

Your location at the moment of the wager is what gets enforced. Not residency. Not the state you downloaded the app in. A VPN or a short drive across a state line won’t create a workaround. It gets the bet blocked.

West Virginia

West Virginia sports betting through Ember runs as a skin under Delaware North’s own Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack and Mardi Gras Casino and Resort licenses, with the West Virginia Lottery Commission regulating. State law caps the market at five sports wagering licenses total (W. Va. Code §29-22D-6(c)), so Ember holds one of five at most. This is the fuller version of the product. Sportsbook and online casino share a single app install, and both properties run Ember-branded retail books.

The licensing connection rests on the five-license statutory cap, on Delaware North’s long-standing ownership of both properties, and on the West Virginia Lottery approval mark carried on Wheeling Island’s own site, tied to the sportsbook.

Ohio

Ohio is sportsbook only. Ohio hasn’t legalized online casino gambling for any brand, so the missing casino is a statewide gap with nothing Ember-specific about it.

The Ohio paperwork is unusually well documented, and worth naming precisely. The Ohio Casino Control Commission’s July 15, 2026 licensee list names Miami Valley Gaming and Racing, LLC as the Type A sports gaming proprietor, active and currently operating, with Gamewise listed as the Ember-branded mobile management services provider, also active. Delaware North appears nowhere on that list by name. Ember’s Ohio license belongs to a racino joint venture wearing the Ember brand, a meaningfully different structure from the West Virginia arrangement above it.

New Jersey Is Casino Only

Find Ember through its New Jersey casino and you still can’t place a sports bet with it there. Delaware North has framed the New Jersey casino as the first of further planned expansions without naming a state or a timeline for a sportsbook to follow, so treat that as intent and not a date you can plan around. Ember Sportsbook means West Virginia or Ohio, nowhere else.

Ember Sportsbook Sign-Up and Verification

Opening an account takes an email, a password meeting a stated complexity rule, your first and last name, date of birth, phone number, home address, and the last four digits of your Social Security number. You have to be 21 in both states. Both app store listings carry an 18-plus content rating, and that’s Apple’s and Google’s own content classification, nothing to do with the legal betting age.

Registration is free with no stated minimum first deposit, so you can look around inside an account before putting money in it. Identity checks that can’t clear automatically escalate to manual review taking up to roughly three days. Register a few days ahead of anything time-sensitive instead of the morning of a game.

Two quirks catch people out. A trusted-device option skips repeated identity checks for a stated window once you set it, with no self-service way to remove that trust, so a lost phone stays trusted until support closes it. Geolocation gets enforced at the moment of the wager and needs VPNs and remote-desktop tools switched off, the most common reason a first bet won’t place.

Ember Sportsbook Bonus

Ohio gets $50 First Bet Insurance for new members, per Ember’s own Ohio app listing, with full terms on the promotions page inside the app. Don’t assume West Virginia mirrors it.

i

First-bet insurance

First-bet insurance refunds a losing qualifying wager as a bonus bet, never cash. A bonus bet doesn’t return its own stake when it wins, so it’s worth less than the face amount suggests. Sportsbook bonuses get built this way right across the regulated industry. At standard -110 pricing, a $50 bonus bet that wins pays $45.45 in profit, and the stake disappears whichever way it lands.

Bonus bet math

Bonus bet stakeOddsPayout if it winsWhat disappears
$50-110$45.45 profitThe $50 stake

No promo code appears to be required. Ember describes bonuses as applying automatically once the qualifying steps are done, so confirm the credit landed in the bonus-tracking screen before you place the bet the offer was meant to cover.

Open the live promotions tab before you opt in. In Ohio, expect a win to pay closer to $45 than $50. West Virginia has no stated offer to check against yet.

Ember Deposits and Withdrawals

Deposit options differ by state, and West Virginia’s list runs longer. PayPal and the PlayPlus prepaid card show up there and go missing from Ohio’s shorter menu.

Deposit methods by state

Deposit methodWest VirginiaOhio
Apple PayYesYes
Visa or Mastercard, credit or debitYesYes
Mazooma instant bank transferYesYes
VenmoYesYes
PayPal and PlayPlusYesNo

One mechanic deserves a full sentence. There’s no screen for adding a sportsbook deposit method ahead of time. A card only gets stored by pushing a live deposit through it, so testing a card costs you real money, never a token amount.

!

Withdrawals unstated

Withdrawals are the open question here. Ember doesn’t state withdrawal methods, minimums, processing times or fees anywhere you can reach them, and that absence is the finding you need before you fund an account.

Get verified early. Identity verification has to clear before a first withdrawal either way, and you don’t want to be starting it at the moment there’s money to collect.

Is Ember Sportsbook Legit

Yes. Ember is state-licensed in both states where it takes real-money sports bets, under licenses and, in West Virginia, properties that predate the Ember name by years.

The two licensing structures are genuinely different, and conflating them is the common mistake. Ohio’s belongs to Miami Valley Gaming and Racing, a joint venture, with Ember as a partner brand and not a Delaware North entity on the state’s own list. West Virginia’s runs directly off Delaware North’s Wheeling Island and Mardi Gras casino licenses.

Ember’s own materials aren’t always reliable this early in a brand’s life, and there’s a sourced example. A West Virginia help article names the West Virginia Racing Commission as the regulator. The correct body, confirmed against the statute, is the West Virginia Lottery Commission. The error is Ember’s, and it’s exactly the kind of small thing a six-week-old rebrand hasn’t finished catching.

i

Pros:

  • State-licensed in both live states, with paperwork public and checkable
  • An established parent operating structure in West Virginia through Delaware North’s own casino licenses
  • Account continuity through the rebrand, with balances and bet history carried over automatically

Cons:

  • A two-state footprint only
  • Thin market depth next to a national book
  • Key terms Ember leaves unstated

What Ember Sportsbook Doesn’t Publish

Four terms a winning bettor cares about most don’t turn up anywhere in Ember’s own materials, each one checked against a specific place it should have been.

Maximum payout per bet and per day goes unstated. Minimum and maximum bet size for sportsbook wagers goes unstated too, and the only bet-sizing article in Ember’s help materials covers slot line bets instead of sportsbook stakes. House rules for grading, voids and postponements can’t be found either. Whether the bet slip accepts odds movement by default never gets addressed at all.

Unpublished terms

TermPublished by Ember?
Maximum payout per bet and per dayNot published
Minimum and maximum sportsbook bet sizeNot published
House rules: grading, voids, postponementsNot published
Odds-movement default on the bet slipNot published

None of those rows is permanent. A young brand’s documentation improves, and the same table checked in six months may read differently. What it means today is simple. Keep your balance modest until you’ve personally tested a withdrawal, because the terms governing that exact moment are the ones with the least behind them.

Ember Sportsbook Markets and Odds

i

What a price actually tells you

A price tells you only what a winning ticket pays out. Take -110. It implies a break-even rate of about 52.4 percent, and implies is the operative word, because the true chance of either side winning is a separate question nobody has answered for you.

Ember describes its coverage at the level of the major US leagues, college sports, live in-game markets alongside pre-game, and same-game parlay betting. The bet slip is narrower than that suggests. Ember documents three wager types, singles, parlays and round robins. No teaser, no if-bet, no reverse, which matters if you’re used to a national book’s fuller slip.

Thin coverage is a pricing problem before it’s anything else. Two states gives you one Ember price and no second Ember price to check it against, and West Virginia’s five-license cap means at most four other licensed apps in-state to shop a line at.

Round Robin Bets

i

Round robin

A round robin builds every possible combination from the picks you select and charges your stated stake separately on each one, not once in total. Ember’s own combination counts follow the standard industry ladder. A Trixie from three picks runs 4, a Yankee from four runs 11, a Canadian from five runs 26, a Heinz from six runs 57, a Super Heinz from seven runs 120, and a Goliath from eight runs 247.

!

Read the total stake

The top of that menu is where it bites. A $10 unit stake on a Goliath doesn’t commit $10. It commits $10 times 247 combinations, or $2,470, off a box where you typed ten dollars. Read the total-stake figure before you confirm, never the unit box. That single misread is the most expensive mistake available in Ember’s bet slip.

The Ohio College Prop Ban

A college player prop is a wager on one athlete’s individual statistics, and Ohio restricts exactly that category. College sides, totals and futures stay available. The state has barred wagers on individual college athletes’ statistics since 2024, after the NCAA asked for the restriction, and the rule binds every sportsbook licensed in Ohio equally. Ember didn’t choose it.

West Virginia’s answer on the same question isn’t settled. Check Ember’s current West Virginia terms directly instead of assuming the Ohio rule carries over.

Ember Sportsbook and the Betly/MVGBet Rebrand

Ember replaced Betly in West Virginia and MVGBet in Ohio on July 1, 2026, in one rebrand, and nothing underneath moved that day. Same license, same account, same platform, new label. Delaware North’s release names the swaps directly. Ember Casino replaced Betly’s online casino in West Virginia, Ember Sportsbook replaced Betly’s and MVGBet’s sportsbooks, Ember Rewards replaced Lucky North Rewards, and Ember Jackpot Casino replaced the prior free-to-play social product. The app stores’ own release notes call it a straight rename in place, with nothing for you to do about it.

The rebrand is visibly unfinished. Ember’s own June 30, 2026 app store release note for the Ohio app says “The same sportsbook you know and love. Betly has now become Ember Sportsbook.” Go looking for old Betly or MVGBet complaints today and you’re reading about the exact product you’d be signing up for under the new name.

Arkansas is the most common wrong turn. Delaware North’s Betly sportsbook at its Arkansas property didn’t become Ember. It moved to a different national sportsbook brand under a market-access deal months before this rebrand, so a search for Betly Arkansas leads somewhere else entirely.

Ember Sportsbook App and Support

West Virginia and Ohio run as separate apps built for separate licenses. Cross the state line and you’ll be opening a second account. The Ohio app carries a 2.2-out-of-5 rating across 39 ratings and the West Virginia app 2.3 out of 5 across 186. Both figures move week to week, and both histories run back through the Betly and MVGBet years, so read them as a caution and not a verdict on a six-week-old name.

Support runs roughly 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM in both states, on separate numbers per state, and never around the clock. One of Ember’s own pages gives a 1:00 AM closing hour instead, and Ember hasn’t cleaned up the contradiction.

Where support stops, licensing starts. Both states have a regulator that accepts a consumer complaint and can compel an outcome customer service wouldn’t hand you voluntarily. That’s what the word regulated is worth here, and it isn’t marketing language.

Ember Rewards

Ember Rewards replaced the Lucky North loyalty program with an automatic rollover, so existing members kept their status without re-enrolling. Five rungs, low to high. Spark, Ignite, Flame, Blaze and Phoenix, named in Delaware North’s own July 1 rebrand release.

Ember Rewards tiers

TierAnnual tier points
SparkNot published
IgniteNot published
FlameNot published
BlazeNot published
PhoenixNot published

That release names the five tiers and confirms existing members’ earning ratios and balances carried over unchanged. It gives no point thresholds separating one tier from the next, and no other Ember or Delaware North material fills that in. You can see the tier you already hold inside the app. The rungs themselves stay private.

The property footprint spans several Delaware North states, but sports betting only earns tier credit in the two states where Ember’s sportsbook operates, so a member anywhere else earns no sportsbook credit at all. The reason to value this program is the loyalty tie to a physical Delaware North casino you actually visit. Never visit one, and it’s worth close to nothing.

Ember Sportsbook Compared to Other Sportsbooks

Bigger, more established regulated books operate in both Ember states, so the realistic way to hold this account is as a second book. For an old Betly or MVGBet balance already sitting there, for the Delaware North rewards tie, or as a free line to price-check against. Not as your only sportsbook.

Registration costs nothing, a genuine point in Ember’s favor that plenty of small books don’t offer, and it lets you read Ember’s terms and pricing before deciding whether to fund anything.

There’s no table here declaring which book is better. A six-week-old two-state book loses that comparison on paper to a national name, and forcing the verdict would talk Ember down without telling you anything useful. What Ember is good for, and what it isn’t, is the comparison worth having.

Ember Review FAQ

Is Ember Sportsbook Legal and Licensed?

Yes, through Delaware North’s own Wheeling Island and Mardi Gras casino licenses in West Virginia, and Miami Valley Gaming and Racing’s state license in Ohio.

What States Is Ember Sportsbook Available In?

Two. West Virginia and Ohio are the only states where Ember takes real-money sports bets. A separate Ember casino product operates in New Jersey with no sportsbook attached.

Can I Still Use My Old Betly or MVGBet Account?

Yes. Betly and MVGBet logins, balances and bet history carried across on their own when Ember launched on July 1, 2026, with nothing to re-register.

Does Ember Sportsbook Have a Welcome Bonus?

In Ohio, yes, a $50 First Bet Insurance offer for new members. Check the promotions tab inside your own account for West Virginia, because Ohio’s terms don’t carry over.

Does Ember Sportsbook Publish a Maximum Payout?

No. Ember gives no ceiling on what a single bet or a single day can pay out, and that gap belongs at the top of any list of reasons to keep a balance small here.

Can You Withdraw Ember Sportsbook Winnings to a Card?

Ember doesn’t say either way. How a payout reaches you, on which method, in what time, at what cost, is a question Ember’s own materials leave wide open.

Does Ember Sportsbook Allow College Player Props?

Not in Ohio, where college player props fall under a state rule binding every sportsbook equally. West Virginia’s position isn’t settled, so check Ember’s current terms there.

What Is a Round Robin Bet on Ember Sportsbook?

It charges your stated stake separately on every combination built from the picks you select, so a $10 unit on a Goliath, the largest combination type, commits $2,470.

Is There an Ember Sportsbook App for iOS and Android?

Yes, two of them, built for two separate state licenses. No nationwide Ember app connects West Virginia and Ohio.

Will Ember Sportsbook Expand to More States?

Delaware North has stated an intention to enter additional regulated markets without naming a state or a timeline. Treat it as ambition.

The Short Version

Three checks before you sign up.

  1. Confirm your own state first, against a regulator or Ember’s current site, and never an old Betly or MVGBet bookmark. Six weeks into a rebrand, knowing what changed and what didn’t is most of using it well.
  2. Treat any bonus figure as unconfirmed until you’ve seen it in the app’s own promotions tab, and treat the missing payout caps, bet limits and withdrawal terms as the finding that matters most.
  3. Hold Ember as a second account, for an old balance already sitting there or for the Delaware North rewards tie. The market menu and the stated terms both run thinner here than at the bigger regulated books serving the same two states.
