BOSTON – Softball fans will now have an all-new way to get in on the action with a new deal between popular US sportsbook DraftKings and softball league runner Athletes Unlimited.
The two entities have come together to push forth an all-new free-to-play softball pool where participants can compete for free in hopes to win from the pool of $1,000.
The grand prize winners will win $100 making this event very viable since the entry fee is free. This event bring s the world of daily fantasy sports (DFS) and softball together in new ways.
Softball Free-To-Play Challenge
DraftKings DFS division will be hosting the event. Participants will be playing DFS against one another using Athletes Unlimited as the league.
The softball players’ stats and matchups will be directly provided by Athletes Unlimited, leading to the most accurate and legitimate way to play.
“Central to our strategy is giving fans as many ways to engage around our leagues,” said Jon Patricof CEO and co-founder of Athletes Unlimited. “And for DraftKings, the appeal of the deal was their ability to reach new customers that have been following Athletes Unlimited but might not be on the DraftKings platform yet.”
Athletes Unlimited is hoping that the partnership with the likes of DraftKings will help push the softball league into the sports betting arena.
The idea is that if the company manages to increase fan engagement with the DFS event, then the overall brand recognition will increase.
