JERSEY CITY, N.J. – BetMGM has officially announced that ESPN’s Ryan Spoon will be taking the helm as Chief Operations Officer.

Spoon will bring his decade’s long resume of sports knowledge to the sportsbook, including being a two-time Sports Business Journal Forty Under 40 winner and just recently holding the position of head of Digital Product and Design at ESPN.

Spoon Joins BetMGM

Spoon will be bringing with him his years of sports business knowledge and relationships within the sports betting world. The new COO has spent his entire career accumulating assets that will benefit BetMGM.

“BetMGM has seen early success in establishing itself as a significant player in the sports betting world through relationships with leagues, teams, and partners,” said Adam Greenblatt, CEO of BetMGM. “With Ryan’s expertise in developing scaled and engaging digital experiences, BetMGM will leverage those relationships in entirely new ways.”

As the new COO, Spoon will be in charge of overseeing BetMGM’s industry-leading platform. Ensuring that all daily activities are run smoothly, which he has experience doing while working at ESPN.

The sportsbook already has partnerships with professional leagues including the NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, PGA TOUR, and NASCAR. BetMGM also has dealt with major sports teams including the Tennessee Titans, Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Jets, and Vegas Golden Knights.

Even Buffalo Wild Wings has a strategic Partnership with BetMGM, showing that the sportsbook is not afraid to expand its market and curate business deals with everyone.

“The opportunity at BetMGM during these early phases was an immediate draw for me,” said Spoon. “With the incredible assets of MGM Resorts, GVC’s industry-leading technology, and the many leagues, team, and platform partners, BetMGM is uniquely positioned in the market and I am excited to help drive future growth.”

Spoon will officially be the COO starting in November. He will work directly from the BetMGM headquarters in New Jersey.
