CHICAGO – Thursday marked a groundbreaking day for Illinois and its sports betting market as they officially launched their first online mobile sports betting platform with BetRivers.

The Rivers Casino in Des Plaines is the affiliated establishment for this mobile sportsbook.

Earlier this month, Governor J.B Pritzker suspended the in-person mobile sportsbook registration requirement as all retail sports betting venues are closed due to the Coronavirus.

Illinois is in great need of any and all revenue because of financial losses sustained from the outbreak.

The Mobile Platform At BetRivers

Sign up and registration for a BetRivers membership began Thursday morning with the rollout of the platform.

Sports bettors in Illinois can log on to the BetRivers website and register to begin placing their bets.

This is the first time in Illinois legal sports betting history that gamblers will have the option to remotely bet on sporting events with the convenience of their phone or computer.

All wagers and events that would be seen at a land-based sportsbook will be seen through the new online outlet.

Last week, the Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) issued seven Master licenses to different casinos in the state to operate sports betting expansions at their businesses.

However, they will need to seek extra approval by request to be granted an online/mobile sportsbook license to operate one of their own.

Rivers Casino previously requested an online sportsbook license and was approved which has allowed them to now open BetRivers.

Rush Street Interactive is excited to be making history in Illinois with the launch of the state’s first online and mobile sports betting operation.

The timing could not be better as professional sports are slowly making a comeback and interested sports bettors can avoid the stipulation of in-person registration, which is currently suspended.

There is no word yet as to when land-based sportsbooks and casinos in Illinois will reopen but sports bettors can now place legal sports bets during the pandemic with the new BetRivers platform.
