Is KC In Trouble? Eric Fisher Out, Robinson, Kilgore In Isolation

TAMPA, Fla. – With just under a week before Super Bowl 55 kicks off between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Chiefs have received some unfortunate news this week.

To start, the Chiefs’ starting left tackle, Eric Fisher, suffered a season-ending torn Achilles in the AFC Championship game. Flash forward to Monday, and receiver Demarcus Robinson and starting center, Daniel Kilgore have been placed on the COVID-19/Reserve list.

Perhaps the most affected by this COVID-19 and injury-related news is Patrick Mahomes, who is potentially left without his starting center, as well as a confirmed missing left tackle.

This certainly sets up the Buccaneers’ defensive line to have a field day with the Chiefs offensive line, as the Bucs are ranked fourth in the league when it comes to sacks, and first when it comes to rushing yards allowed – two stats that are very important to Super Bowl championship runs.

Mahomes Without Eric Fisher

Fisher missed eight games in the 2019 season and the Chiefs went 4-4. However, during that eight-game stretch, Mahomes actually suffered a dislocated knee cap that kept him on the sideline for three weeks as well.

During the five games that Mahomes did play, he saw his worst quarterback ratings of the season where he put up ratings of 68.5, 52.6 and 56.0 in three straight weeks.

As for Kilgore, he is now forced into a five-day isolation period unable to practice with the team like Robinson; however, neither Robinson nor Kilgore tested positive for COVID-19 but were in close contact after their barber tested positive.

With that, if they continue to test negative throughout the isolation period, they could both be cleared to play prior to Super Bowl 55. If there is one thing to take away from both of these players being placed on the Chiefs COVID-19 list, it is that different player props on legal sports betting sites could certainly be affected by this – more specifically in Mecole Hardman.

Hardman could see more playing time and more receptions as he and Hardman split playing time down the middle during the season. Even if Robinson is to play, the split could shift to be slightly in favor of Hardman due to the increased practice times.
