Joe Biden

  • Harris is now favored to win the 2024 presidential election over Joe Biden.
  • Biden announced his bid for a 2024 re-election in March.

LAS VEGAS – Fluctuations in betting odds are not only normal, more often than not they’re expected. In the case of the US presidential election, however, it isn’t quite as common for the sitting president to not be favored for their own party’s candidacy the next cycle so long as they’re eligible for re-election.

Biden No Longer Favored

Odds have begun shifting away from Biden and towards his own vice president, Kamala Harris. Popular sports betting website Bovada shows Biden and Harris sharing the same +130 odds to win the DNC primary.

More interestingly, Harris is currently the most favored to win the overall 2024 election with odds currently sitting at +400. For comparison, Biden’s odds are +450 and Donald Trump’s are +550.

With Harris favored to win the overall election, it’s reasonable to assume she’ll overtake Biden as favorite to win the DNC candidacy soon.

Is Biden A Bad Bid?

In March of 2021, sitting president Joseph Biden announced his intentions to run for president in the 2024 presidential election.

“My plan is to run for re-election. That’s my expectation,” said Biden during a press conference.

It’s possible that odds are shifting away from Biden due to his advanced age. By the time the 2024 election happens, Biden will be 81 years old. Do these subtle changes in the odds indicate a growing suspicion that Biden will step aside to allow for Harris to make another bid for president?

There’s still a while to go before the next election, and a lot can happen regarding the 2024 presidential election odds between now and then.
