MLB Opening Days Odds Yankees Vs. Nationals, New World Series Odds

LAS VEGAS – It just doesn’t quite feel like summer without baseball. Luckily, fans and baseball bettors won’t have to wait too much longer to indulge in America’s pastime.

After an embarrassingly long and arduous negotiation between league officials and players, the MLB is finally ready to start it’s 2020 season.

The first game of the season will feature the New York Yankees traveling to take on the defending World Champion Washington Nationals.

Yankee fans will have the opportunity to see their newest weapon in action as Gerrit Cole makes his debut in pinstripes. Cole was acquired in the biggest move of the extended offseason when he signed a nine-year, $324 million deal with New York.

Cole is unlikely to have a relaxing first day at his new job, as he faces off against three-time Cy Young winner and newly crowned World Series Champion Max Scherzer.

The first baseball betting odds of the season are now available, with the Yankees getting the slight edge on the road.

While the Nationals are indeed the defending champions, many believe they don’t have the supremacy to repeat their dominance.

The Nationals lost one of their best pieces when Anthony Rendon left for the Los Angeles Angels, taking his 34 home runs and .412 OBP with him.

They will also be dealing with the loss of first baseman Ryan Zimmerman and pitcher Joe Ross, who have decided not to play in the 2020 season assumedly due to fear of the coronavirus.

The Yankees will be coming in with a more optimistic view of the shortened season.

Not only are they excited to see what Cole will bring to the rotation, but the franchise is hopeful they have a better shot at the World Series now that the Houston Astros can’t steal their signs in the playoffs.

In fact, the Yankees were tied with the Dodgers for the shortest odds to win the World Series at +325 as recent as last week.

Since then, the odds have moved up for all of the top teams as bets begin to come in.

Due to the nature of such a short season, this year in baseball could see some wild runs from some unexpected teams. Since the release of the 60-game format, the World Series odds have spread out significantly, signaling that money is coming in on the longshots.

As previously mentioned, oddsmakers do not have faith in a repeat performance by the Nationals. They sit with the 17th shortest odds to win the title at +3000.

No matter where the money goes, the real winner this season will be the fans as baseball prepares to enter one of the most unique seasons in American professional sports history.
