  • Surrounding sportsbooks posted $36.8 million in revenue for October which was a 146% increase from the $15 million gained in October 2019 showing the popularity of sports betting in Pennsylvania.

BETHLEHEM, Pa.Wind Creek Bethlehem’s casino unveiled the latest addition to their property on Wednesday with the opening of a Pennsylvania sportsbook operated by Betfred USA Sports.

An expansion into sports betting is something that the company hopes will help them to recoup the damage they sustained from the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Casino revenue has yet to recover as they have been operating at limited capacities and with a lack of money coming in, Wind Creek had to lay off almost 20% of their employees last month to keep their business afloat.

The Sportsbook At Wind Creek Bethlehem

Sports betting for Pennsylvanians at Wind Creek is something that has been in the works since January when they went in on a partnership with Betfred USA Sports.

But the Coronavirus Pandemic would soon put the construction and launch of a sportsbook on hold for the company. The rollout of this sports wagering venue marks the third operational sportsbook run by Betfred in the US as they also have a location in Colorado and another in Iowa, in their quest for expanding their brand nationwide.

“We’re extremely excited about our partnership with Wind Creek Hospitality and couldn’t be happier with the launch of our third U.S.-based sportsbook in one year. Pennsylvania is a massive sports betting market, and we look forward to making Wind Creek Bethlehem a go-to destination for sports bettors,” said Bryan Bennett, Betfred USA Sports’ chief operating officer.

The venue for the Wind Creek sportsbook is located in the space that used to be known as Buddy V’s Ristorante. The casino had the area redone to create a luxurious sports wagering experience for patrons 21 and over.

There are two video walls that will feature the day’s biggest sporting events on the screen, 31 TVs in the vicinity, three customer service style betting windows, and eight self-service wagering terminals for patrons to use. A wide selection of seating is available as well as a sports bar that serves drinks and pub fare.

“Opening the sportsbook at Wind Creek Bethlehem provides yet another exciting gaming opportunity for our guests,” said Jay Dorris, president and CEO of Wind Creek Hospitality. “Partnering with Betfred USA Sports will allow us to bring a first-class sports betting experience in a high energy environment to the property.”

Wind Creek Bethlehem’s Sportsbook

Although they have already opened to the public, a grand opening which will be invite-only is slated for Saturday. With this opening will come the launch of the mobile sportsbook platform by Betfred in the weeks to come for the Wind Creek Casino.

By the end of 2020, Wind Creek Casino will offer both retail and mobile sports betting to their customers and with any luck, they’ll be able to make up some of that lost revenue caused by COVID-19.
