NJ casino gambling revenue is up.

  • New Jersey legalized online casino games and online poker in February 2013.
  • Online casino revenue in New Jersey was only expected to increase by 20%.
  • Sports betting focused online platforms, including DraftKings and FanDuel Sportsbook, offer casino games in New Jersey.

ATLANTIC CITY – While most of the attention has been focused on the growing online sports betting market in New Jersey, another gambling sector may be riding off that same wave.

According to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement’s November 2019 Total Gaming Revenue Results, the state has seen $433,367,351 in internet gaming win for the year so far. This is a 60.7% increase from November of 2018, where the state saw $269,692,639 in internet gaming win.

The state is projected to reach $460 million by the end of December, which means that the amount of revenue that online casino games make may increase by 66% year-on-year.

Eilers & Krejcik Gaming Industry Analyst and Partner Chris Grove estimated that online casino gambling in New Jersey would have only grown about 20% if not for the rise of online sports betting in N.J..

There are currently 20 online casino brands and 16 online sports wagering platforms that are competing for market share in the Garden State.

What may have helped online casino gaming is its integration with online sports betting. Major sports gambling focused brands such as DraftKings and FanDuel have online casino games available on their sites as well.

This means sports bettors are more exposed to online slots and online poker and may be more willing to try them through a brand they already trust.

Other states with legal sports betting, could take note of what New Jersey has been able to accomplish and try to replicate that.

For Example, Parx Casino in Pennsylvania launched an online sportsbook that connects directly to their online casino. Rewards points can be earned from both and then redeemed at the onsite property.

West Virginia also legalized online casinos in March of 2019, but regulations are still being set. The state has two online sportsbooks currently operating with both DraftKings Sportsbook and FanDuel Sportsbook dominating the market.

Delaware has online casinos available to people located within their borders, but have yet to introduce online sportsbooks. If any state were to take note of New Jersey’s online gambling playbook it may be them.

So far, only New Jersey, Nevada, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Delaware have legalized online casino games. A total of 20 states have legalized sports betting in some fashion.
