Ole Miss Head Coach Lane Kiffin Says ‘Bet the over’ vs LSU - Lane Kiffin, Whit Weeks
  • Lane Kiffin’s daughter announced she’s dating LSU star linebacker Whit Weeks, leading the Ole Miss head coach to recommend betting the over for Saturday’s game.
  • Bovada lists the total at 55.0 points (-105 to go over) for the top-15 clash in Oxford.
  • Ole Miss stands as a 1.5-point favorite over LSU with -125 odds favoring the Rebels to clear their 27.5-point team total projection.

OXFORD, Miss. – Not often do college football head coaches give a betting recommendation on their own game, but that’s exactly what Lane Kiffin did on Monday night. The Ole Miss head coach said to “bet the over” on Saturday’s legal sports betting total when the Rebels square off with the LSU Tigers in Oxford.

LSU vs Ole Miss Betting Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
LSU +1.5 (-110) +100 O55.0 (-105)
Ole Miss -1.5 (-110) -120 U55.0 (-115)

The quote came in response to Kiffin’s daughter announcing her relationship with LSU defensive captain Whit Weeks. Kiffin made it clear that he plans on scoring a lot of points on Saturday, giving an edge to the -125 odds favoring Ole Miss to score over 27.5 points at Mississippi sportsbook apps.

Can Kiffin Legally Recommend Betting The Over?

While its obvious that coaches and student athletes can’t participate in sports betting, is Kiffin violating any rules by telling people to bet the over? According to the NCAA’s sports betting rules, “if you are a student-athlete, coach, or athletics staff member, regardless of sport or division, you are not allowed to bet or provide any useful information that can influence a bet in any sport the NCAA sponsors at any level.”

Kiffin’s tout of the over could be considered as “influencing a bet”, but the bigger question is will the over actually hit? The total opened at 56.5 points, but is down to 55.0 points at Bovada Sportsbook with -115 juice on the under.
