The Paragon Casino

  • Paragon Casino is launching its retail Betfred-powered sportsbook in Marksville, Louisiana today.
  • This is the first sportsbook to go live in Louisiana since the industry became regulated earlier this year.
  • A number of commercial sportsbooks are still awaiting their licenses in the Bayou State.

MARKSVILLE, La. – Louisiana residents will soon be able to officially place action at a local sportsbook with Paragon Casino Resort in Marksville launching its retail location today.

Through a partnership with Betfred Sports, the sportsbook will go live today, making it the first sports betting venue in the Bayou State. Other commercial sportsbooks are still awaiting licenses in order to go live.

With the launch of the Betfred Sportsbook, the Louisiana sports betting market will make its historic debut as an industry.

Sports Betting In Louisiana

Betfred Sportsbook will begin taking wagers at 3 PM CST. Only retail wagers on sporting events can be made at this time as online sportsbooks will not be going live today.

“Our partnership with Betfred Sports marks a new chapter for Paragon – which has always been a source of pride for Marksville and the people of Louisiana,” said Marshall Sampson General Manager of Paragon Casino Resort. “With this new partnership, I hope visitors from across the region will have the chance to experience it for themselves. Together, we are offering a first-class sports betting platform and venue that will make Paragon Casino Resort the place to bet and watch games in Louisiana.”

The sportsbook will be live in The Draft Room, a luxury sports lounge built within the Paragon Casino. This sports lounge has 112 HD TVs that will display games and betting lines with theater seating, a custom video wall, and several betting kiosks surrounding the bar and food areas.

The Draft Room will offer full-service Las Vegas-style sports betting options for all major league games. With the NFL season in full swing and the NBA season ahead, Louisiana residents have plenty to bet on.

“Louisiana is an exciting opportunity for Betfred Sports to continue its expansion in the U.S. after successful launches in Iowa, Colorado and Pennsylvania,” said Mark Stebbings, Betfred Group Chief Operating Officer. β€œWe look forward to utilizing our 50 years of bookmaking experience with our fantastic partner, Paragon Casino Resort, to bring the best sports betting experience to bettors in the state.”

When Will Other Sportsbooks Launch?

Louisiana lawmakers are still reviewing sports betting applications, however, there is no official timeline set for when more licenses will be issued.

Local sports bettors can expect online and mobile sportsbooks to go live in early 2022, as the process is still ongoing to get that part of the industry-ready.

The launch of Paragon’s sportsbook is a major step for Louisiana that could see other sportsbooks expedite their launches in the coming weeks.
