  • IGT and Betgenius will power the sportsbook at Resorts World Catskills.
  • Sportsbook 360 at Resorts World Catskills is the closest N.Y. sportsbook to New York City.

MONTICELLO, N.Y. – Resorts World Catskills is set to unveil the grand opening of Sportsbook 360 on Thursday, just in time for the first game of the NFL season. It will be the seventh sportsbook in New York to open and the final commercial casino in upstate N.Y. to offer sports betting.

The opening reception for the event will begin at 6:30 p.m. EST and the first ceremonial bets will be placed at 7 p.m. EST. Former New York Jets wide receiver Santana Moss will be one of the first to wager, along with former New York Knicks players Larry Johnson and John Starks.

Sportsbook 360 can be found on the casino floor of Resorts World Catskills and encompasses a total of 6,000 square feet. The area features more than 35 televisions that are 75-inches in size each. The screens are organized in a 360-degree arc positioned around a central bar.

“We are thrilled to offer patrons access to Sportsbook 360 for a unique, integrated gaming and lounge experience within our casino resort,” said Ryan Eller, president and CEO of Resorts World Catskills in a press release sent by the casino.

Sports betting will be powered by International Game Technology (IGT) and Betgenius. IGT is one of the largest gaming suppliers in the world and provides lottery, casino, and sports betting services. Betgenius is a subsidiary of Genius Sports, which is a data provider for sports leagues such as the NCAA and NBA.

“We are proud to play a key role in Resorts World Catskills’ new sportsbook offering. Utilizing Betgenius’ premium sports betting content in sportsbook management, Resorts World Catskills will offer its customers the most extensive and engaging sports betting experience,” said Jack Davidson, chief commercial officer of Genius Sports Group in a press release.

As all other sportsbooks in N.Y. that offer legal sports betting, Resorts World Catskills can only offer onsite betting.

A mobile sports betting bill was introduced during the state’s 2019 legislative session, but it eventually died in Assembly despite passing through the state Senate.

However, sports betting in New York is still growing and Resorts World Catskills will still offer its patrons many sports wagering options. Sportsbook 360 will offer pre-match/live betting, 14 self-service betting kiosks, and seating for up to 100 sports bettors.

Odds for professional, as well as collegiate sports, will be offered at Sportsbook 360. However, betting on in-state collegiate teams or matches is not permissible under the state’s current sports betting laws.
