STAMFORD, Conn. – Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) fans will be happy to know that the XFL has joined in on the fantasy sports train. Through a collaboration with DraftKings this week and FanDuel last year, players will be able to set lineups with the new league.

Vince McMahon, the XFL founder and CEO, has expressed excitement for this integration, hoping that fantasy football can become an avenue for growth with the XFL and that it will increase awareness by increasing fan engagement.

Jeffrey Pollack, President and COO of the XFL, shared similar enthusiasm when the partnership with Draftkings was announced earlier this week.

“DraftKings is a leader in this space and shares our commitment to giving fans more ways to connect to the game we all love. This partnership is another great way to broaden our reach and introduce our new league,” said Pollack via DraftKings press release.

The NFL benefited greatly from fantasy sports, as the number one sport fantasy leagues are created around is football. The XFL has taken steps to ensure the integrity of their games, before DFS and sports wagering on the new league take place.

More Than A Fantasy

XFL DFS fans can already get started on their rosters for the upcoming season. DraftKings confirmed via their twitter account that XFL games will be available to play on throughout the season.

“We can confirm that we will have XFL contests this season and that those contests will begin on 2/8,” they tweeted “We’ll be sure to provide additional details as we get closer to that date. Thanks for your patience in the meantime.”

The XFL is vying for staying power as they are taking multiple steps to not only separate themselves as a legitimate football league but also have options similar to the NFL and college football in order to be a comfortable home for football fans.

Fantasy football is a great way to have fans be apart of the action throughout the season. It has shown to be a big win for the NFL in the past as it has been linked to increased ratings.

DFS Fans Love Football

Not only is there evidence to support the XFL increasing viewership from fantasy sports, but there is also reason to believe that many players will engage with XFL DFS.

In 2017 more than 59 million fans played fantasy sports according to FSGA. That study showed that 78% of those players played fantasy football. Football is by far the most popular sport for DFS.

The XFL is sure to garner a lot of attention moving forward thanks to teaming up with DraftKings and FanDuel ahead of their upcoming season. McMahon hopes to see fan engagement and viewership blossom as a result, similar to the benefits the NFL saw.
