With the NFL season over, the XFL is looking to scratch that football itch fans miss during the spring.

  • Betting lines are out for the first games of the XFL season.
  • The Dallas Renegades are early favorites to win the championship.
  • Seattle Dragons vs D.C. Defenders kicks off the first game of the season.

WASHINGTON – The XFL season kicks off this weekend with betting lines out and available for eager sports bettors to start wagering on.

The newly returned football league will see eight teams battle it out over 10 weeks, supplying bookmakers with a lot of action throughout the season. Sportsbooks in, Iowa, Nevada, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania will host lines for the XFL.

Opening lines have the Dallas Renegades to take home the championship this season at +250 with the New York Guardians +300 being a close second favorite.

Opening Weekend

Saturday’s matchups are garnering attention from sports bettors. The first game of the XFL season will see the Seattle Dragons go up against the DC Defenders in a cross-conference battle. The Dragons are current 7.5 point underdogs with -105 odds to the Defenders -115.

DC is hoping to make a statement opening day behind the play of starting QB Cardale Jones. Jones was drafted 139 in the 2016 NFL daft and was back up QB for the Buffalo Bills, LA Chargers, and the Seattle Seahawks during his NFL tenure.

Jones accomplishments include the MVP of the 2014 Big Ten Championship. He was also 3-0 as a starter for the Ohio State Buckeyes during his sophomore year when the Buckeyes took home the National Title.

On the other side of the field, Seattle is looking to establish itself as a top team in the league. Dragons QB B.J. Daniels is a Super Bowl champion, being on the Seattle Seahawks roster for Super Bowl XLVIII. He is also USF’s all-time rushing and passing leader.

Both teams seem to be boasting potentially explosive QB’s and are expected to have a passing oriented offense.

Following the first game, the LA Wildcats will face off against the Houston Roughnecks. Both teams are going in with similar odds at -110 but the Roughnecks are 6.5 points favorites.

More Odds To Come

As we get further into the season there are sure to be more odds to come. As we get to know the players’ and teams’ strengths and weaknesses, sportsbooks are sure to add prop bets as well including rushing yards and sacks.

With all the innovations the XFL is making, including having betting lines on-screen during the games, fans can expect a bevy of odds during the course of the season.

Whether or not this will be able to compete with the NFL is difficult to predict. It seems oddsmakers are testing the waters this weekend and seeing how sports bettors react.
