INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana sports betting continues to blossom as they add BetMGM to their long list of available online sportsbooks.

BetMGM launches officially on Tuesday in the Hoosier State making it their fifth sportsbook since regulating sports betting. There is, however, a lot of work to do if BetMGM hopes to thrive in the already saturated Indiana sports betting market.

Embracing Sports Betting

Indiana sports betting has gone headfirst into the industry since Gov. Eric Holcomb signed SB 552 into law in May 2019.

Since then, casinos in Indiana have brokered deals with many major sportsbook operators. The Corn Capital of America continues this trend with the launch of BetMGM.

The official launch comes following the temporary vendor license that Indiana awarded MGM Resorts just last month. The license stated approval for the official launch set for February 25, 2020.

The Roar Digital backed sportsbook will find no shortage of interest in Indiana as the over $170 million handle from sports betting saw $123.4 million come from online sports betting.

Of that $123.4 million, just under 94% came from bettors using DraftKings (over $65 million) and FanDuel (over $49.5 Million).

The other two sportsbooks are BetRivers (over $7.7 million) and BetAmerica ($89,622) which made up the remainder.

BetMGM will be coming in a strong underdog in the Indiana betting arena. The competition will be tough, but with the strong growth of the sports betting market in Indiana there will be plenty of room for BetMGM to gain a foothold.
