FLUSHING, N.Y – The U.S. Open is set to start next week Monday and with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer withdrawing due to injuries, Novak Djokovic is a big favorite to win his fourth Grand Slam of the season.

Novak Djokovic Tops U.S. Open Odds Boards

Novak Djokovic has won the first three Grand Slam events of the season and legal sports betting sites  list him as a sizable favorite to complete the sweep in the U.S. Open. Among the top threats to Djokovic is the trio of young talents.

Men’s US Open 2021 Odds

  • Novak Djokovic -150
  • Daniil Medvedev +400
  • Alexander Zverev +550
  • Stefanos Tsitsipas +900
  • Matteo Berrettini +2000
  • Andrey Rublev +2500
  • Jannik Sinner +2500

Djokovic has been on another level in the 2021 season and as the top-ranked player in the world, he will be a tough man to beat as he looks for his fourth career U.S. Open title.

Beating The Favorite: Who Could Pull Off The Upset?

The easy choice as the upset pick is Daniil Medvedev. He’s second in the world rankings, second on the odds boards and finished second in the Australian Open earlier this season. Those betting on tennis can get Medvedev at (+400) and could be worth the investment.

Medvedev ranks inside the top five in return rating and under pressure rating on hard court over the last 52 weeks, joining Djokovic as the only player to be top five in each category. Medvedev and Djokovic are the top two seeds in the event, meaning they would not meet until the finals.

Another possible option is Stefanos Tsitsipas at (+900). Tsitsipas made it to the semifinals of the Australian Open and the finals of the Australian Open where he took Djokovic to a fifth set in the championship.

Tsitsipas is one of the better servers on hard court as he has taken home 89% of his service games on the surface  in 2021 and has won 24% of his return games as well. He has the talent to compete with the best and if he puts his game together all weekend he could very well be the one to overthrow Djokovic.

It’s possible that the online sportsbooks have Tsitsipas undervalued at his current price.
