Calgary, British Columbia Provide Value On The Road Week 6
  • The Calgary Stampeders have -115 odds to cover the five point spread against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
  • The British Columbia Lions beat the Edmonton Elks by 17 points in Week 1 and are favored by three points this week.

SASKATCHEWAN – Week 6 of the Canadian Football League’s season kicks off a slate of three games this weekend on Friday in one of the biggest matchups of the season thus far between the Calgary Stampeders and the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Stampeders vs Roughriders Game Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Stampeders +5.0 (-115) +190 O 53.5 (-105)
Roughriders -5.0 (-105) -230 U 53.5 (-115)

Legal sports betting sites give the undefeated Roughriders -230 odds to win outright against the second place Stampeders.

Saskatchewan has gone 4-0 to start the season, while Calgary sits at 3-1, tied with Winnipeg for the second best record in the Western Conference and the entire league.

Each team features a dominant running game, as Saskatchewan’s AJ Ouellette currently leads the league in rushing with 347 yards, while Calgary’s Dedrick Mills is not far behind with 311 yards, the second most in the league.

The two teams are very even on paper, with the Roughriders scoring four more points per game than the Stampeders while allowing four more points per game as well.

Bettors should look to the Stampeders against the spread for the best bet in this game. Though the Roughriders are undefeated, three of their victories came by just one score and two of them came by a margin of five.

Take Calgary to cover the five point spread, even if they don’t win outright.

Lions vs Elks Game Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Lions -3.0 (EVEN) -160 O 51.5 (-110)
Elks +3.0 (-120) +135 U 51.5 (-110)

The British Columbia Lions are favored by betting sites in Canada after already having beat the Edmonton Elks in Week 1. The Lions enter the game at 2-3 while the Elks are just 1-3.

BC’s record can be deceiving, as they have lost twice to the 3-1 Winnipeg Blue Bombers and once to the undefeated Saskatchewan Roughriders. Despite being just 2-3, they average the second most passing yards per game in the league.

The problem for the Lions is that they can’t capitalize by scoring points, averaging just over 20 points per game, the least in the league. Fortunately for them, the Elks own the worst scoring defense in the league, allowing 34.5 points per game to opponents.

Edmonton has averaged 26 points per game, which is right around what the Lions have given up per game.

The Lions won the first meeting between the two teams by a final score of 31-14 at home. They’ve gone 1-2 on the road at CFL betting sites while the Elks have gone 1-1 at home.

BC should be able to cover the three point spread and bettors should consider taking over 51.5 total points in what could be a potential shootout.
