Cam Akers provides the most projected points for fantasy football running backs taken in late rounds.

  • Zack Moss is projected to gain 152.67 fantasy points in 2020.
  • Antonio Gibson is projected to score 203.88 points on the season.
  • Cam Akers leads the pack and is projected to score 253.03 points.
  • Leonard Fournette, who recently made the move to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is projected 185.48 points.

NEW YORK—As the NFL season quickly approaches, fantasy football season is underway as many fantasy general managers begin drafting their teams.

The one fantasy position that seems to be the most stressful to draft in this year’s fantasy football season is running backs. This is a top-heavy running back year which makes them hard to come by as they usually get drafted early.

It is good to be on the lookout for running backs that can be selected late in the draft that offer a low risk and high reward. Here are some running backs that can more than likely be taken later on in the draft:

Running Back Fantasy Points Projections:

  • Cam Akers – 253.03
  • Antonio Gibson – 203.88
  • Leonard Fournette – 185.48
  • Zack Moss – 152.67

Looking at Cam Akers of the Los Angeles Rams, he could not be in a more perfect situation. He is the top contender to take over the RB1 spot on a Rams team that allowed Todd Gurley to put up 1,251 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2018.

Akers is a strong back with huge upside potential as he was one of the top running backs in the nation playing for the Florida State Seminoles putting up 2,780 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Being that Akers is trending towards being the lead back, he is worth the pick and could even be seen anywhere between the third and fifth rounds.

As for Antonio Gibson of the Washington Football Team, things are looking up for the rookie back since the team recently cut ties with their former RB1 Adrian Peterson.

What this means is that Gibson will likely step into the RB1 spot. This is one of the riskier picks but if taken with the right pick he could offer huge potential throughout the season. If Gibson is available between rounds five through seven, he is definitely worth the pick.

Leonard Fournette is definitely someone to look at but only if taken at the right spot. Online betting sites have fluctuated Fournette’s 2020 projections being that he was originally the lead back for the Jacksonville Jaguars and is now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Bucs coach, Bruce Arians, has already come out saying that Fournette won’t be the RB1 come Week 1 of the season but that he has the potential to work into that role down the line.

He is definitely worth stashing until he gains the starting role. If available between rounds six through eight, he would be a valuable pick.

The Buffalo Bills rookie running back, Zack Moss could be one of the few breakout players this season on a Bills team that is just starting to find their identity.

There has been speculation around the team that the lead back for the Bills would depend on the week which is a great sign for Moss as it gives him a chance to prove his worth during games and practices.

If available during rounds 6-8 this is a steal of a pick and can be a deciding factor on any team.
