DraftKings has entered into a deal with Casino Queen, giving them access to the Illinois sports betting market.

  • The DraftKings deal will bring the sportsbook to the Casino Queen as well as give Illinois residents access to the mobile sports betting app.
  • No date has been set for DraftKings to launch in Illinois.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill.- DraftKings is officially set to operate in the Illinois sports betting market thanks to a new deal. The popular sports betting operator will offer both land-based and mobile sports betting to residents of the Prairie State.

Thanks to partnering with Casino Queen, DraftKings was able to curate the deal in Illinois in time for the deadline. Had DraftKings missed the deadline, the sports betting company would have been forced to wait another 18 months before launching in Illinois.

No official launch date has been announced, however, the goal is to have DraftKings in operation in time for the return of the MLB and NBA seasons.

DraftKings In Illinois

After just two weeks of legalized online sports betting in Illinois, sports betters are getting access to one of the biggest domestic online sportsbooks available.

This is the second online sports betting provider to strike a deal with the Prairie State, as BetRivers launched in Illinois back in June.

Due to COVID-19, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker was forced to suspend the mandatory in-person registration requirement for online sportsbooks.

This may be a major benefit to sportsbooks like DraftKings and BetRivers, as mobile betting will be a major draw for citizens trapped inside.

Illinois is prime real estate for sports betting. The Prairie State is home to six professional sports teams including the Chicago Bulls, Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Bears, Chicago Fire, Chicago Cubs, and Chicago White Sox.

It is also the sixth most populated state in the U.S. and Chicago itself is home to the third-largest city in the country. Illinois has the potential to be a sports betting juggernaut in a very short amount of time.

Already, seven casinos have earned sports betting licenses with two casinos, Rivers Casino Des Plaines and Argosy Casino Alton having already curated deals with BetRivers and Barstool Sports respectively.

Add to this DraftKings with Casino Queen, it is clear that competing sportsbooks will soon see the value of legal sports betting in Illinois.

It is to be expected that other deals with sportsbooks like FanDuel could be soon to follow. Illinois is wasting no time in embracing online sports betting.
