  • Mississippi has seen a 113.2% year over year increase in sports betting revenue for November.
  • The bulk of the betting activity came from Coastal casinos.
  • Football was again the most wagered on sporting event.

JACKSON, Miss. – The November sports betting revenue report for Mississippi has been released and it shows a major increase in tax revenue for the Magnolia State.

Despite the decrease in sports betting activity for November, Mississippi still managed to collect more than double the revenue from last year.

Sports bettors in Mississippi have continued to make Mississippi a nation leader in legal sports betting.

Revenue Increase

Per the official revenue report, Mississippi saw $54,443,370.24 wagered on sports in November. This was a slight 11.1% decrease from the $61.2 million wagered in October.

While betting activity was down, betting revenue was also slightly down month on month. The Magnolia state collected $8,108,101.87 in sports betting revenue, down 8.1% from the $8.8 million in October.

While month on month numbers show a small decline, the $8.1 million collected in revenue is up 113.2% from November 2019.

The Coastal region was the primary source for sports betting activity in November. With Biloxi being a major gambling attraction for tourism, it is no surprise that over $35.8 million was wagered on sports. Biloxi accounted for $4.3 million in November’s revenue.

Football was the most wagered on sport, with local bettors taking action on the NFL and betting on college football.

Mississippi is in a rare case where there is no true mobile sports betting available to residents and tourists in the Magnolia State, yet Mississippi continues to show growth in the market.

Mobile betting is allowed on location at specific sportsbooks, but there is no regulated on the go sports betting available.

If Mississippi is able to collect major tax revenue from legal sports betting without regulated mobile sportsbooks, then it only stands to reason the potential millions the state could also be receiving if they held regulated sports betting.

For now, Mississippi locals can only bet at local regulated sportsbooks. The residents still clearly are deeply engaged in sports betting as the November numbers show growth year over year.
