Geico 500

  • The Geico 500 is set to run Monday afternoon after rain interfered with the Sunday start time.
  • Chase Elliott (+600 odds) leads all drivers to win the race at Talladega, followed by Brad Keselowski (+700), and Joey Logano (+700).
  • Full race odds are available including great value for drivers like Denny Hamlin (+1200), Aric Almirola (+2000), and Ryan Newman (+2800).

TALLADEGA, Ala. – After Sunday’s NASCAR Cup race from Talladega was postponed due to a massive thunderstorm, the Geico 500 is officially set to start on Monday.

NASCAR bettors now have more time to analyze their picks for the first superspeedway race since the restart of the NASCAR season.

However, this time around things will be slightly different. Not only referring to the lack of fans and implemented social distancing measures but in the build of the cars as well.

After Ryan Newman suffered a harrowing accident on the final lap of February’s Daytona 500, NASCAR has introduced some new adjustments to the cars for their next superspeedway race.

These changes include the removal of aero ducts, a reduction in the size of the throttle body, and mandatory application of slip tape along the entire length of all lower rearward facing surfaces of the rear bumper cover.

While these changes are meant to ensure the safety of the drivers, teams are currently unaware of how they will ultimately affect the racecar once the green flag drops.

With that in mind, past history at Talladega might not be the most valued factor in this week’s race odds.

Odds to Win NASCAR Geico 500

  • Chase Elliot +600
  • Brad Keselowski +700
  • Joey Logano +700
  • Ryan Blaney +900
  • Denny Hamlin +1200
  • Kyle Busch +1200
  • Kevin Harvick +1400
  • Alex Bowman +2000
  • Aric Almirola +2000
  • Kurt Busch +2000
  • Martin Truex Jr. +2000
  • Jimmie Johnson +2200
  • Ricky Stenhouse Jr. +2200
  • Ryan Newman +2800

Joey Logano (To win +700/Top 3 +225)

While Brad Keselowski has had great success at this track, Joey Logano has been the fastest car this season, sporting the best average finish in addition to two recorded wins.

While the racing might be different than years prior, it will still most likely be run in packs, and that is where Logano excels.

At +700, the number might be too low for some, but it still holds value.

Denny Hamlin (To win +1200/Top 3 +275)

Getting Denny Hamlin to win above +1000 odds at legal sports betting sites is too good to ignore at this point.

Hamlin has been on fire since the sport returned, including an emphatic victory last week in Miami, his third of the season.

Hamlin also won the last superspeedway run at Daytona and will be looking to keep his momentum going.

Aric Almirola (To win +2000/Top 3 +600)

Aric Almirola has had great success at Talladega, including a win and four top-ten finishes, but what really is the catch here is the value.

This has all the makings to be one of the few races a year where Almirola looks unstoppable, and at +2000, oddsmakers are undervaluing his ability at this track due to poor recent performance.

The Geico 500 is set to run Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. EST.
