CHICAGOPointsBet has announced on Saturday the launching of its mobile app and digital sports betting product along with the future opening of retail sportsbooks in Illinois.

Right in time for the first NFL Sunday of the 2020 regular season, PointsBet is offering online and mobile sportsbooks that residents can sign up without in-person registration until at least September 19.

The retail sportsbook will be available in four different locations in and around Chicago with the flagship location of Hawthorne Race Course in Stickney, Illinois. The other locations will be offering premium off-track betting sportsbooks at Prospect Heights, Crestwood, and Oakbrook Terrace.

“The PointsBet team is excited to share that we are now officially live in Illinois, our fourth state of operation in the US,” said Johnny Aitken, PointsBet USA CEO.

“The passionate sports fans in the state can now experience our leading online sports betting product and see for themselves why we’ve long stated that the best product experience will win. PointsBet possesses competitive advantages by owning our technology environment from end to end, such as unrivaled speed and ease of use on a personalized platform. We, together with our partner Hawthorne Race Course, are thrilled to provide the Illinois consumer with exactly what they’ve been craving.”

In July, Hawthorne Race Course was approved by the Illinois Gaming Board to redevelop the track to create a gaming and entertainment venue that would include a sportsbook and a casino.

This legal sports betting business will offer table games, slots, and enhanced parimutuel betting along with a partnership with well-known Chicago culinary leaders for dining options.

“There are a lot of good reasons why we chose to partner with PointsBet, but most importantly it’s their commitment to innovation and customer excitement,” said Tim Carey, President and CEO of Hawthorne. “They truly know the passion and needs of the player and that has always been our focus in horseracing, just as it will be in the casino that we’re developing. Illinois gamblers are going to quickly realize PointsBet provides the best sports betting experience by far.”

PointsBet has now become the fourth online sportsbook to enter the Illinois sports betting market. The company’s CEO Johnny Aitken has stated that PointsBet will be offering the best price in the market for all Chicago Bears pregame spread line and moneyline bets this season.

The Hawthorne Casino & Race Course, pending licensing approvals, is projected to open towards the end of 2021.
