William Hill Launches Limited Online Sportsbook In Washington D.C.

• William Hill has officially launched its online and mobile sportsbook in Washington D.C.
• William Hill has been operating out of a temporary pop-up sportsbook at the Capital One Arena since July.

WASHINGTON – William Hill has officially launched its mobile sportsbook in Washington D.C., although it is launched in a limited capacity.

William Hill’s D.C. sportsbook has been operating in the Nation’s Capital since July 2020 but has been using a temporary retail pop-up sportsbook at the Capital One Arena.

Sports bettors in Washington D.C. can now add another mobile sportsbook. Initially, only GamebetDC offered on the go sports betting.

More Options For D.C. Players

William Hill has been embraced heavily in D.C. since its launch, even outpacing GameBet despite only being available at one temporary physical location.

Now the sportsbook is able to offer mobile betting, but it is not anytime anywhere as the mobile sportsbook is only available within a two-block radius from the Capital One Arena.

“William Hill US, America’s leading sports book operator, today launched its William Hill Sports Book App in Washington D.C., following approval of the D.C. Office of Lottery and Gaming,” read the official press release. “Available for use within a two-block radius around Capital One Arena (excluding federal buildings), the William Hill mobile app offers sports fans a betting experience with a broad and deep array of markets and bet types, including Parlay Cards and live InPlay wagering for their favorite teams, all at a tap of a finger. The app also includes a quick and secure registration process and various options to deposit and withdraw funds.”

The reason for the limited access is due to William Hill holding a Class A sports betting license. Class A licenses only allow sportsbooks to operate within facilities inside D.C.’s four main sports stadiums.

For D.C. bettors within the radius to access the mobile sportsbook, they will find the full scale legal sports betting offering available. William Hill is continuing its quest to be one of the biggest and most renowned sportsbooks in the country.
