Dolphins, Lions, Falcons

  • The Miami Dolphins are 4-point underdogs to the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football.
  • The Detroit Lions are 4.5-point favorites over the Seattle Seahawks.
  • The Atlanta Falcons have -110 odds to cover a +1.5-point spread against the Cleveland Browns.

MIAMI – There is an elite group of teams remaining in the NFL that have made bettors extremely happy through three weeks by going undefeated against the spread. Those teams are the Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, and Atlanta Falcons.

Of these three teams though, the Dolphins are the only ones who sit with an above .500 record as they are also an unbeaten 3-0 on their season record.

Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins earned their 3-0 spread record as a 3-point favorite in their first game against the New England Patriots where they dismantled them 20-7. In Weeks 2 and 3 they were 3-point underdogs to the Baltimore Ravens and 4-point underdogs to the Buffalo Bills where they ended up winning both games.

Looking ahead to Week 4, legal online betting sites have the Phins as underdogs (+4) for a third straight game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football. Luckily for the Dolphins, they are being put in a good spot to go 4-0 ATS as the Bengals are currently 1-2 ATS.

Miami has been impressive this season against the spread as they are averaging a winning margin of 6.3 points and are covering their given spreads by 7.7 points on average.

Detroit Lions

After an explosive start to the season, the Lions have found themselves in prime position to go 4-0 against the spread to start the season against a bottom-tier team in the Seattle Seahawks. NFL oddsmakers have the Lions going into their Week 4 matchup as favorites for the first time this season at 4.5 points leaning their way.

Backing them being set up nicely to cover in Week 4 is that the Seahawks are 1-2 ATS through three games and are losing their games by 7.7 points on average and failing to cover by 3.2 points.

Looking at Detroit’s journey, they are covering their given spreads this season by 4.8 points on average. They lost by 3-points to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1 as 6-point underdogs, won in Week 2 on a PK line, and lost by four points as a 6.5-point underdog in Week 3 to the Minnesota Vikings.

Atlanta Falcons

Not many would have expected the Falcons to be on this list given their lack of talent on their roster compared to the other two 3-0 teams. They’ve been an underdog in every game thus far having lost by 1-point on a +5.5-point spread to the Saints in Week 1, lost by 4 as 10.5-point underdogs to the LA Rams in Week 2, and won against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3 as 1-point underdogs.

While they are averaging a -0.3-point differential, they have managed a solid +5.3 cover margin on average ATS.

It is worth noting that of the three unbeaten teams, they could be considered least likely to make it out as they face the Cleveland Browns in Week 4 who are 2-1 ATS with a 4.3 winning margin which is more than enough to cover the 1.5 points set for the game.
