Kyrie Irving

  • Eric Adams has lifted the New York vaccine mandate.
  • Kyrie Irving and Aaron Judge will now be allowed to play home games in New York.
  • The Brooklyn Nets have +550 odds to win the NBA Finals.
  • The New York Yankees and Mets each have +1000 odds to win the World Series.

NEW YORK – After having a strict vaccine mandate in New York City, mayor Eric Adams has lifted that mandate and it will have a huge toll on the Brooklyn Nets, New York Yankees, and New York Mets as players that are unvaccinated will be able to play home games. An official announcement on the situation is taking place on Thursday morning at Citi Field.

“We’re going to do it in the right way—We’re going to follow the science … we’re going to make the right decision,” said Adams. “And in New York, no matter what you do, this is 8.8 million people and 30 million opinions, so you’re never going to satisfy New Yorkers, so you must go with the logic, your heart and the science.”

The mandate has been a major issue both for the NBA and MLB and unvaccinated players of New York teams have not been allowed to play in home games.

Looking at Kyrie Irving specifically, the Brooklyn Nets star has yet to play a home game at Barclays Center this season, however, he has played in almost every road game for the Nets since January.

In the MLB, it has been reported that of all four major sports leagues, baseball has had the lowest vaccination rate and New York players have not been any exception. One name in particular amongst the unvaccinated is Yankees star outfielder, Aaron Judge.

Affects On The NBA

Despite the absence of Kyrie in home games, the Nets have still been a powerhouse of the league in the eyes of online betting sites as they still have the second shortest odds to win the NBA Finals.

Irving has also been playing lights out, putting up 28.5 ppg, 5.5 apg, and 4.6 rpg. In the month of February in particular, he is averaging 38.8 ppg with a 50- and 60-point outing.

With the mandate now lifted and Irving making his home debut shortly, now might be a great time to take their NBA Finals odds.

Affects On The MLB

Luckily for the Mets and Yankees, the vaccine mandate has not affected their seasons due to the lockout for a new CBA deal. With that, neither of their World Series odds have shifted in the wrong direction and both teams are seen as major contenders with +1000 odds.
