  • Kenny Smith is a former two-time NBA Champion and is currently an analyst for the show Inside the NBA on TNT.

NEW YORK – On Thursday, FanDuel announced that two-time NBA Finals winner and current analyst for Inside the NBA on TNT, Kenny Smith, will be joining the company via an exclusive content deal.

According to the company’s press release, Smith will now appear in FanDuel ads and promote FanDuel’s new free-to-play NBA contests. The free-to-play game is set to debut ahead of the broadcast of the Brooklyn Nets vs. the Boston Celtics at 7:30 p.m. EST on TNT.

“Partnering with FanDuel has been a great addition to Inside the NBA,” said Smith. “I am looking forward to collaborating with FanDuel on future projects, as well as, interacting with our viewers each night through FanDuel’s new free to play game that will become a bigger part of our broadcasts.”

The app will ask Over/Under style questions for the hopes to win a share of a $5000 prize pool.

FanDuel Going All In On NBA Betting

The announcement isn’t the first in FanDuel’s deep investment into targeting NBA betting.

In July of 2020, FanDuel signed a deal with Turner Sports in order to have access to promote FanDuel during NBA game broadcasts and other NBA assets. DraftKings also signed a deal with Turner Sports at the same time but FanDuel was given exclusive access to NBA content.

FanDuel also previously signed Charles Barkley, one of Kenny Smith’s on set co-analyst to be a brand ambassador of FanDuel.

But, the company seems to have put its belief in Kenny Smith for his credentials, not just his relation to Barkley.

“Kenny Smith is an NBA Champion, a beloved NBA analyst, the all-time assist leader at the University of North Carolina and someone whose magnetic personality and smile brings people together,” said Mike Raffensperger, Chief Marketing Officer of FanDuel Group. “We love Kenny on TV every Thursday night, but it’s his positivity and tireless dedication to the community that made us want to add his voice to our brand roster of sports personalities.”

The partnership couldn’t have come at a better time. With the second half of the NBA season underway, more eyes will be locked into NBA games as the post-season slowly approaches. More bets on legal sports betting sites are also expected to ensue.
