Lorena Gonzalez

  • Lorena González has -140 short odds to win the 2021 Seattle Mayoral Election.
  • Colleen Echohawk has the second shortest odds at +275.
  • Bruce Harrell has +300 longshot odds to win.

SEATTLE – The race for the next Seattle mayor has sportsbooks heating up. Seattle City Council President Lorena González is the current front runner at the polls and is leading all others at license sportsbooks as well.

Many betting fans are also looking at Colleen Echohawk, executive director of the Chief Seattle Club. Echohawk is looking to become the first indigenous person elected in the Emerald City.

Bruce Harrell, Lance Randall, and Andrew Grant Houston are also gaining some action from election odds betting fans.

Next Elected Seattle Mayor 2021 Odds

  • Lorena González -140
  • Colleen Echohawk +275
  • Bruce Harrell +300
  • Lance Randall +1200
  • Andrew Grant Houston +4000

González being favored is no surprise. As the president of the Seattle City Council, González has built strong relationships within the local government.

She is running a campaign that includes creating affordable housing, making neighborhoods more diverse, and demilitarizing the Seattle police. González is also a Democratic Candidate. The current Mayor, Jenny Durkan is a member of the Democratic Party. Seattle is a relatively liberal city and replacing their current Democratic woman mayor with another Democratic woman, and in this case, a woman of color would be an easy choice for that local voter base.

These benefits are also true about Colleen Echohawk. Echohawk is running on a campaign promising a people-first approach to her mayoral ship.

“I’m running for Mayor of Seattle because I love this city, and we have a once-in-a-generation chance to rethink how it works, and who it works for,” said Echohawk. “If we take a people-first approach to renewal then we can become as transformative as our communities demand us to be.”

Echohawk has also spoken of police reform and is a member of the Community Police Commission who has spent years working to better police and citizen relations even before announcing her interest in running for mayor.

Longshot betting fans will find her +275 odds tempting as she has plenty of time to gain favor of voters before the November 2 election.

While she doesn’t have the experience in the local government that González has, her social media popularity and years of community work is a major asset that could see her jump in the polls, and see her odds shorten at legal sports betting sites.

Bruce Harrell is another candidate that sports betting fans should consider wagering on early. Harrell is a former City Council President and was an interim mayor in 2017 before Durkan ultimately took the seat.

Harrell is a nonpartisan candidate, which may work against his favor as many voters tend to follow their political affiliation, but he views his position as a positive. Without party loyalty, Harrell believes he can be a new kind of leader in Seattle.

“I am running because we need a Mayor to meet this moment of unprecedented challenge and opportunity, a Mayor with the lived experience to tackle big issues; a decisive leader fully committed to productive dialogue, planning and execution,” said Harrell. “We must rebuild the fundamental trust between city government and the people it serves.”

Harrell’s years of experience and his position of not being loyal to a party but loyal to the residents of Seattle could shorten his odds at licensed sportsbooks in the future. Smart money would be to take action now in the early stages of the election.
